Nascetta: Langhe in white<\/strong><\/h3>\n

There are many wonderful wines that the Langhe and their vineyards offer us, and among these everyone certainly knows the most famous, such as Barolo and the great reds typical of Piedmont, but we often forget that among the fruits of this land there are also white wines that deserve to be discovered and appreciated. Among these we find Nascetta, an indigenous product of the Novello area (even more so than Barolo itself). This is a particular wine in all aspects, from its flavour to its history, including the wine-making process itself.<\/p>\n

Although it is an indigenous product of the Langa, this vine has been forgotten for years, relegated to a few scattered rows and often not even considered for vinification, to the point of being almost at risk of extinction. This is because it is a delicate and inconstant grape, which does not always guarantee a profitable harvest, and so over the last century most winegrowers have preferred safer and more ‘reliable’ crops such as Barolo and Nebbiolo.<\/p>\n

In fact, even though it is a wine of ancient origin, Nascetta, known in the area as “nas-cetta” or “anascetta” was already widely used and appreciated in the 19th century and described as “a very delicate grape capable of producing an exquisite wine”. Thanks to its versatility, in the past it was vinified both in combination with other grapes such as Moscato Bianco and Favorita, and sweet as an aromatic passito and Messa wine.<\/p>\n

After being progressively abandoned during the 20th century, this wonderful product has been rediscovered in recent decades, thanks to the few grapes that fortunately survived as “guests” among the other vineyards. Its popularity grew rapidly until, in 2002, it received the “DOC Langhe” certification and a few years later the specific designation.<\/p>\n

As it rightly should be, the commitment and perseverance to take on more difficult challenges always pays off, in fact today we can enjoy this fantastic wine, which among the other great whites of the Langhe is distinguished by its bright golden colour, its special citrus and fruity scent but with the right degree of flavour, making it a perfect table wine, decidedly versatile, suitable to accompany any dish of Italian cuisine and beyond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
